Quote 3

"She said a silent prayer for the foreign buck segeant as she stoked her small cooking fire.  He was from the other side, but tonight he was not the enemy.  She had been fooled at first, but his voice had told her that the simmering redness in his eyes had not been hatred."

I chose this quote because although there is a war, and the segeant knows better he is awed by Hongs death and goes for a walk through Cong Hua, and passes by a woman and she turns away but the sergeant greets her and she greets back, although she was fooled at first because of the appearance she could tell by his eyes they weren't full of hatred, I'm guessing he cried throughout the walk.  But anywho, The sergeant doesn't care if he was in an unprohibited area, he still went through it.

1) Would you risk yourself and do something like jesse did ?
2) Nothings ever what it seems to be ? Do you think this saying can relate  to this quote ?

Quote 2

"As Einstein had predicted,  their souls and their futures would be completly unchanged, while the world around them had evolved and gone on." (PG 53)

This quote is significant because while others are changing and ravling with
all the trends, and materials, you are still determined to stick to your
motivations and wouldn't change it for anything.

1) After reading this quote, How important do you think
it is ? Are you one of those people who are determined ? or is easily influenced and change your
mind every once and a while ?

2)  How important is motivation ?

Quote One.

"Did you know, Mai, that some anthropologist think  that make up and lip stick are just
a visual echo of the erogenous zones ? It seems that some female monkeys somewhere in the wilds of Tanzania have faces that look like their hind ends. Hell, some of our customers look exactly like that, but they're all men !" (PG. 12)

This quote is significant, because through out the first couple of chapters people would

think Persephone and Mai are lesbians and they would critisize them but once they started cooking their delicous food, they would be nice.  And most men who would come to their restraunt looked like a monkeys hind end.  And now a days, most woman wear make up to get attention from men, but others think make up is used to get a sexual attraction from the opposite sex.
Questions:
1) Do you believe that make up is being used for other reasons ?
2) Do you think that all men look like a monkeys hind end ? or was Persephone over exaggerating..?
